{SHOPPING} HOMEWARE SHOPPING IN STOCKHOLM (IN 48 HOURS)
/Stockholm is renowned for its trend setting and cutting edge design in both fashion and interiors, so if you are looking for something a bit different it’s definitely worth the two hour flight. Just don’t forget to pack an extra suitcase!!
Here is my homeware shopping guide to Stockholm (In 48 hours)… * WARNING* This post does contain a LOT of Photos. I hope you enjoy!
Day 1
Wake Up at Story Hotel in Ostermalm (a shopping district in Stockholm) a cool boutique hotel right on the door step for visiting the nearby shops. The rooms are quirky and a little on the small side but if you want something different which is reasonably priced, this is your place. Rooms have stripped concrete walls with sticker wall art and lots of brass finishings to make you drool over. This hotel is complete with a bar and restaurant and plenty of well dressed hipsters! (£120 Double Room, per night)
Within 200 meters of the Story hotel you have my favourite Swedish budget homeware accessories brand; Lagerhaus. This store sells everything from cushions to gardenware. I’ve bought brass bedside lamps at £15 each and small marble trays for £11 before.
The beauty of this store is that it’s sadly not in the UK so your friends will be raging with jealously when they see the delights you bring back (and did I mention everything is quite reasonably priced…this was what the spare suitcase was for!)

Next, head to the Urban Outfitters store on Bibloteksgatan for some quirky home décor items. The store looks like an old cinema from the outside and inside has a beautiful large crystal chandelier hanging from above the mezzanine floor. It’s certainly one of the prettiest urban outfitters I’ve ever visited. Items include copper hanging baskets for the garden to Kanye West ‘Saint Kanye’ pillar candles.

Next up head to mini shopping centre MOOD, which is on Regeringsgatan 48, 111 47 Stockholm and is a 10 minute walk from Urban outfitters. Here you will find POSH LIVING. The name says it all, except it should really be called AMAZING LIVING, it actually is amazing!
Posh Living is an interior design and lifestyle concept with two stores in Stockholm and an online store (except they don’t ship to the UK… booo!) Started by Barbro Berggren Palman and Björn Frick, they both have extensive experience in the furniture industry, and in 2001 they decided to jointly start selling furniture and furnishings of good quality and design that they themselves enjoy.
They sell everything you would need to kit out your entire home with… sofas, furniture, outdoor furniture, kitchen accessories, amazing lighting, pictures, frames, to even soap and candles. Highlights for me were the metallic painted ceramic kitchen pots and marble & brass candle sticks.
They stock recognisable brands; Rory Dobner, Missoni and Day by Malene Birger to name a few, and they even sell a gold toothbrush for £9 so theres no reason to leave empty handed. Plus just wait until you see the stacks of marble trays they have on offer...Its MARBLE TASTIC here. I WANTED IT ALL!

At this point in the day, give yourself a well-earned rest and enjoy a coffee (or some bubbles) at BOQUERIA which is inside the MOOD shopping centre.
After lunch head to NK.
NK is a huge department store a bit like selfridges, which has an entire floor dedicated to homeware. Here you will find contemporay brands such as contemporary lighting and furniture designer Tom Dixon , to smaller swesdish brand; Design House- Stockholm, Danish brand Georg Jenson and their own in store brand; NK Classic home.
They also stock swedish brand; Newport. The best way to describe the style of Newport is if Pottery Barn and Ralph Lauren had a baby, Newport would be the result. Its more expensive than Pottery barn, but it still has that New England meets all American rustic style. (Except its a swedish brand). I personally love the New England look, so it was refreshing to find a Swedish brand which wasn't typically 'Modern' along my travels.

Also in NK were these lovely little fellas, which I feel deserve their own mention.
These are limited edition, porcelain collectable figurines by Paul Smith and Lladro.
They remind me of the Japanese Bearbrick dolls with their large ears and colourful prints, but sadly for me they were over £1,000 so I couldn’t justify the splurge on this occasion. I’m sure these will sell out fast. But you can buy them here if you’re quick.

Day 2
Head to department store Athlens which has an entire floor dedicated to homeware accessories and furniture. Here you will find mid-level brands such as nordic homeware brand Bloomingville, Afro Art and Designers guild plus many more.

After Athlens department store make sure you visit Brukha design. It was here that I purchased a solid brass kitchen tidy (see photos at the bottom of the Stockholm Swag).
Brukha's handwriting is a mixture of contemporay with elements of industrial and classic design. I would say the majority of the items are more classic however I was pretty pleased to find something a bit different to store my fairy liquid and pot scrubber in above my kitchen sink. I recommend you check it out for yourself. (image below)

Inside Bruka Design, Stockholm.
After Brukha Design jump in a taxi and head north to Grandpa in the district of Sodermannagatan. This area is the Shoreditch of Stockholm and hosts plenty of well dressed residents - perfect to people watch.
Grandpa stocks an eclectic array of unique homewares and mid-century furniture as well as clothing and accessories. A solid copper watering can by Paul Loebach and some brass stationary by Hay caught my eye here.
