{INTERIOR DECOR} LOFT WINDOWS & COVERINGS- WHICH ONES BEST?

Velux bedroom windows- which ones best
Velux window dressing room

Our loft renovation has started. The roof tiles are off and the steels have been measured. It won’t be long until we’ll have an extra bedroom, bathroom and dressing room to get decorating and instagramming.

Due to the fact that we are building within permitted development we’re allowed three Velux windows at the front and sash windows at the back, in the dorma. Our builder is keen to order the windows asap and asked us to choose which velux window and coverings we wanted and pointed me in the direction of Roofblinds.co.uk for the Velux window coverings.

Obviously, this got me researching all the possibilities which I was completely unaware of. First of all, did you know that there are over 36 different colours of black out blinds available? Mind blown. I just presumed all black out blinds were black? And that these can be solar powered and remote controlled. Good for the planet and if you’re short like me, also handy!

Then there’s pleated blinds which can be positioned anywhere on the window to control the daylight and come in 20 different colours.

Thirdly are roller blinds which are better for offices and letting in some light but not the glare of the sunshine (on the rare days we do get sunshine!). Available in 15 colours and can also be remote controlled.

And lastly are Awning blinds which help reduce the heat of the sun and also control the day light coming into the room by using a transparent cloth which is discretley hidden in a top cover when not in use.

Due to the fact we want to use our loft space as a bedroom I’ve decided on black out blinds in Navy to go with our dark walls and to have electronic velux windows for ease, but what’s great to know is these coverings are so easy to interchange, if we ever decide to use the space as an office we can just order a new covering in the velux size and fit ourself.

What covering do you have on your velux windows?  Any recommendations for living in a loft will be much appreciated house lusters x
